Spring Valley Vineyards is rich in history dating back to the mid 1800’s -the dedication of six generations of family farmers brought forth in our wines. It all started with current vineyard owner Shari Corkum Derby’s grandfather Uriah Corkum began farming in the area.
Spring Valley Vineyard is located 12 miles northeast of Walla Walla, Washington, spread amid the picturesque wheat fields of southeastern Washington with the Blue Mountains providing the backdrop. The initial block of Merlot was planted in 1993. Great care is taken when caring for the vineyard. Every grape is tended by hand, including crop thinning, leaf pulling, and harvesting, as well as hand-burying individual canes to protect them from the cold winters of southeastern Washington. In the summer of 2007, 66 acres of new vineyard were planted. Today, Spring Valley Vineyard consists of 111 acres of grapevines including Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec.
To honor the family heritage, the wines are named for those ancestors and reflect the expressive character of the land. A true estate winery, only fruit grown in the estate vineyard goes in these highly acclaimed wines. Spring Valley Vineyard wines have received high acclaim since the first vintage of 1999 and have earned 6 spots on Wine Spectator's Top 100 List.
